Chris Young got his start on Nashville Star back in 2006 and his career hasn’t slowed down since. He’s hit many miles stones in the past decade, but last night was certainly a highlight for him.
Vince Gill, who accompanied Young on ‘Sober Saturday Night’, had the honor of inviting him to join the Grand Ole Opry. Of course, this is something every country singer dreams about. Gill has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for almost 3 decades now.
In those 30 years, he’s learned a few things from the rest of his Opry family. “I encourage you to come here often. When your career is on fire like it is, the Opry could use you and it’s important that you come and support this. We do have one more rule; you have to sing one more song to earn your status. Fair enough?” he told Young.
Young was a bit speechless. “I don’t cry at anything. This is stupid. The worst part is, this song is really hard to sing!”
Young will be officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on October 17th. He is also coming to Jersey Country! He will be joining Jason Aldean and Kane Brown at PNC Bank Arts Center on September 9th.
