Brad Paisley came to Jersey Country this past Friday night with Lindsey Ell, Chase Bryant, and Dustin Lynch. Paisley isn’t just known as a great vocalist and songwriter, but also as one of country music’s best guitarists and performers and he brought his A-game to PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel. Thundernation, we saw most of you there but here’s a little recap for those who missed it:
Paisley opened the show with his latest single ‘Last Time For Everything’ and a quick cover of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’. After Paisley played his 2014 hit ‘Crushin’ It’, he went over to the crowd and handed a little girl in a pink cowboy hat his guitar. “That’s how you make a Taylor Swift. I’ll see you up here in 10 years” he said while the crowd cheered him on.
It turns out his drummer is from Morristown, NJ. He must be proud of his Jersey roots, too! Paisley mentioned that he likes to remind the rest of the band that Morristown was once voted the best place to live in America. Brad seemed more than a little skeptical of that and he said that he needed “to check on that.”
Of course, Paisley brought his supporting acts out to help on a couple songs. The one that really stood out was ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ with Lindsey Ell. ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ is a duet between Paisley and Alison Krauss back from 2003. Not only did Ell fill in for Krauss on vocals wonderfully, but she also can give Paisley a run for his money on guitar solos! The girl can shred it!
Thundernation, if you missed this show, don’t make the same mistake twice! Listen to Pork Roll & Eggs on Thunder106 every morning this week for your chance to win tickets to see Florida Georgia Line at PNC Bank Arts Center on August 17th.
