Jason Aldean joined the Today Show for an interview for the first time since the Las Vegas attack. While Aldean returned to the stage less than a week later and has been very vocal on social media, he hasn’t been the subject of an interview since.
Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas when a gunman opened fire killing more than 50 people and injuring another 500. This was called the deadliest shooting in American history. Aldean and his band were forced to flee the stage in the middle of his performance of ‘When She Says Baby’.
Just a week later, Aldean and his pregnant wife, Brittany Kerr-Aldean, returned to Vegas a week after the attack to visit victims who were still in the hospital. Kerr-Aldean was also present for the attack. “As we laid behind equipment onstage with some of our road family, bullets flying past … all I could think was, ‘I never even got to hold my baby,” she shared on Instagram.
He, as well as many other musicians, refuse to live in fear after the attack. As a community, country stars and fan have come together to heal.

The week following the attack, Jason Aldean was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. He covered Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ in honor of the victims of the attack and Petty, who passed away earlier that week. The song is available for download and all of the proceeds benefit the victims of the attack.
