Every time Justin Timberlake announces new music, rumors begin to fly regarding what genre he is leaning towards. The idea of Timberlake going country is certainly something to look forward to, but we shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet. The Tennessee native has dabbled in country, of course, but he’s also at home in the pop, soul and R&B genres.
When the album was announced, so were some of the artists that were to be featured on the new release. Among several artists that will be lending a voice on the album, it was Chris Stapleton’s name that stood out. The two have teamed up several times before for live performances and, as a team, have even impressed non-country fans. One notable performance was their collaboration at the 2015 CMA awards.
David Fanning, known for producing artists like Parmalee and Thomas Square, released a country cover of Timberlake’s ‘Drink You Away’ in 2014. “I never thought I would hear a song I wrote on country radio,” Timberlake told CMT News. “My granddad is smiling from a bar in heaven.”
Timberlake’s new album will be released on February 2nd but he will be releasing three songs each week until then. Stay tuned to Thunder106 for all of the gossip and the latest news from your favorite country stars!
