Cutting Edge Country: Port Saint Joe by Brothers Osborne

Brothers Osborne has finally released their much-anticipated sophomore album, Port Saint Joe. The album came less than a week after they took home trophies for Top Vocal Duo and Best Music Video for ‘It Aint My Fault’ at the ACM Awards.

The 10-song album may seem like a whole new Brothers Osborne to some. They kept it country, however, you can hear some funk and Motown influences, as well.

To get this unique sound, the brothers admitted they had to leave thier comfort zone. They found what they were looking for at thier producer, Jay Joyce’s vacation home in Florida.

“The fact that we went to this beach house in Florida was the ultimate non-comfort zone. You’re staring at the Gulf of Mexico and it’s paradise, but it’s not built to record in. But we loved it. We never felt like we were in a studio or like we started recording, but before we knew it, we had a whole record done,” TJ Osborne told Rolling Stone Magazine.

The duo has gotten praise, as well as some negative criticism, for how vocal they are and how they stick to thier beliefs. “The thing about country music that has always made it so awesome is that it’s always been a bunch of singers who told the truth and stood up for people. The worst thing you can be as an artist is a sellout, and being quiet feels like you’re doing that,” says  TJ.

“There is nothing worse than someone who says nothing,” John added, according to Rolling Stone.

Port Saint Joe is available everywhere now. Brothers Osborne are joining Dierks Bentley’s Mountain High Tour with Lanco. ThunderNation, they will be kicking off our summer at PNC Bank Arts Center on May 19th!
