Devin Dawson has been winning over country music fans and impressing critics since he released his album, Dark Horse, in January. His songwriting skills are comparable to Johnny Cash’s and his vocals match up perfectly. All of his hard work is still paying off! He has been awarded the MusicRow Breakthrough Artist-Writer Award.

Other nominees were Jordan Davis, Morgan Wallen, Russell Dickerson and Jordan Walker, who is one half of the duo Walker McGuire and also penned ‘When It Rains It Pours’ by Luke Combs.

In addition to being an up and coming country star, Dawson is also quite the prankster. At the end of his tour with Brett Eldredge, he set up an entire bar on stage to surprise him. The bar was full of Eldredge’s favorite whiskey and nice cigars, which Dawson and his band enjoyed during their tourmate’s set.

Eldredge’s tour ended easier than Michael Ray’s did last year, when Dawson put Ray’s phone number on ping pong balls which were given to the crowd. Ray and his band were reportedly getting phone calls and Facetimes for weeks.

Devin Dawson is making his way to Jersey Country! He’s is coming to Jenks Club in Point Pleasant Beach on Wednesday, August 15th. We will see you there, ThunderNation!
