Every year, CMT honors some of country’s top recording artists. This year, all of the honorees are women! The list includes Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum.

While there is no shortage of strong female voices in Nashville, women in the music business typically have a much harder time getting ahead than men do. Many of today’s leading ladies are trying to change that.

“I’m not throwing anybody a bone by taking them out on tour with me. They deserve to be there and they’re gonna put on a great show, and I’m already proud of all that they’ve done. I’m a fan, you know? But it’s good when women support women… And I feel like the more we do of that and the more normal it is, why would I not want to take women out on the road with me?” Underwood asked Billboard Magazine.

Unlike what we witnessed from other genres at New York Fashion Week and the VMA’s, you will often find the women of country pushing each other forward and enjoying each other’s company. For example, Raelynn, Cassadee Pope, Maren Morris, and Lindsay Ell are always quick to celebrate each other.

You can often catch them at each other’s shows as well!
