According to Willie Nelson, country music is just “three chords and the truth”, and that may be why country fans have fallen in love with Walker Hayes. While many of his songs stray from traditional country music, his lyrics are so honest and you get to know him while listening to every song.

He’s battled with alcoholism and he has struggled to support his wife and their six children. You hear about all of this in songs like ‘Beer In The Fridge’ and you can get to know his family from songs like ‘Beckett’ and ‘Lela’s Stars’. ‘You Broke Up With Me’ is about how he was having trouble finding success in Nashville after his Reason To Rhyme album came out in 2013.

His song ‘Craig’ easily paints a picture of a hard time for Hayes. As he says in the song, Craig, a friend Hayes met at church, took “roadside assistance to a whole new level” when he needed it the most.

To pay it forward, Hayes has established the Be A Craig Fund. You can buy a shirt, donate or just share your own story.  Stay tuned to Thunder106 for all of the latest news on your favorite country stars!
