Friday was a hard day for country music. Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash on his way to a show in Medford, NJ.
The helicopter was experiencing mechanical problems in the area of the Flying W Airport & Resort, where the country duo was scheduled to perform later that evening. The pilot called authorities and did his best to stay in the air while they waiting for assistance.
One victim of the crash was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and one other passed away at the hospital. Shortly after the crash had been reported, Gentry’s death was confirmed on the duo’s Facebook page.
This has been a shocking and devastating loss for the country music world. Many country stars have shared their heartbreak through social media.
Just heard about Troy Gentry… I literally have no words. Have known him for years and played so many shows with him and Eddie… #prayers
